Our Goal

VAII was inspired by a deep understanding of the inherent issues in developing markets that can be managed, but rarely are. Namely, misguided expectations of shareholders, over leveraging due to continued under performance, lack of transparency between parties with few effective controls, under qualified management (relationships versus qualifications), and an opaque operating environment which makes it difficult to truly understand the company. International Banks or consultants just do not have the experience and understanding of how things really work and what can be done to position a deal for success. Deep experience in the commodities markets and emerging markets are a core competence of the team.

VAII has a simple goal. To identify these points and develop a solution and a structure that minimizes the factors that excessively decrease value in downward market cycles (including default or liquidation). Develop a plan and structure and include the checks and balances necessary to position a company, venture or transaction to over perform in good markets and maintain plans or even taking advantage in consolidating weaker competitors in tougher ones. Whether the starting point is a greenfield project or a distressed one, it is clear to us that any transaction should meet a "gold-standard" with the appropriate balance of risk and reward. Hedging and mitigating risk are key to success.
